Demonstrate Leadership in business

In business Demonstrate Leadership

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams

As a leader what you do gets noticed, even when you are not in the front of the room. Whether as a leader in your work, or in your family life, demonstrate the behaviour you want to see from others. Nothing makes your point more powerfully than demonstrating a desired action or behaviour. We are more likely to follow a leaders example, than their words alone. Walking the talk can inspire change.

Walking the talk has a powerful impact.

If you want your employees to achieve certain standards, or enact certain behaviours, show them by doing it yourself, Demonstrate Leadership. Ethics, character and positive behaviour traits are communicated most effectively through our actions as leaders. It is easy to claim you are busy, have many things to do when you are a leader, but your words will speak louder when they are congruent with your actions.

Demonstrate Leadership

Demonstrate best practice.

Why would your employees follow your vision, or the rules you set, if you wont? If you want your employees to act in a certain way, to follow a rule or process, follow it yourself. As a leader be part of the team, not always the head of it. Do actual work, too, Demonstrate Leadership. People respect those that have actually done the work, understand the time and energy it takes. We all want to be understood, to be liked and respected, this is demonstrated (and the standard set) first by first seeking to understand, like and respect others first.

“Become the change you wish to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi.
